Corcreggan Mill Hostel was established by its current owner, Brendan Rohan, in 1990 and the popularity of its original guest-friendly ethos continues to this day. It has long been described as "the perfect place for the price-conscious guest seeking that elusive combination of comfort, atmosphere and tranquility in a beautiful, rural setting".

It is located on the North West coast of Donegal, near Dunfanaghy, Falcarragh, Tory Island and Glenveagh National Park).

The range of facilities available include:

  • Bed and Breakfast - All rooms are en-suite. Continental or hot cooked breakfast offered.

  • Hostel Accommodation - A self catering, budget option with warm comfortable rooms (some en-suite!)

  • Camping - On the front lawn of the Mill Cottage beside the Mill stream. Dedicated kitchen/shower/toilet facilities.

.

The Corcreggan Mill property is on a 5-acre site, set in a natural hollow alongside the N.56, by the shore of New Lake Nature Reserve. It is 3km Southwest of the village of Dunfanaghy, on the coast road to Falcarragh, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and Tory Island. If homing in on GPS we are at 55* 10.03 North, 008* 00.22 West.

The totally renovated, 16c Mill House is renowned for its tranquillity, its warm hospitality (and we don't just mean the turf and log fires), its comfortable handmade wooden beds, our recycling policy, organic garden, and meditation sanctuaries, the sound of the Mill stream by day and the crashing of waves on Tramore beach by night. We have no TVs or Radios for entertainment. Our guests don’t need them!

The property is set in what was once an important pre-Celtic site, said to be the energy centre for the whole Northwest of Ireland. It has 175, recorded, archaeological sites within an 8km radius. There are also 7 golden sandy beaches, a forest park with nature trails, the 200 metre Horn Head sea cliffs and historic Doe Castle; all within the same radius, (not to mention the many traditional music pubs quality restaurants and visitor attractions).

Corcreggan is an ideal venue for workshops, retreats and outdoor activities, which tend to take place off-season when there are fewer tourists and the lake is full of migratory geese, duck and swans. This quieter time of year is also favoured by birdwatchers, writers, artists and photographers.

Please Note that for the first time since we began business 20 years ago we will be closed from 07 Nov 2010 to 07 Mar 2011, except to accommodate groups of 10 or more people.

Corcreggan Mill... the perfect place for work, rest and play!
