Corcreggan Mill Otherworld Connections
In May '92, Marko Pogacnik, an artist, author and sculptor from Slovenia, who specialises in earth healing through the use of Lithopuncture (positioning of standing stones on acupuncture points in the landscape) put on a workshop in Derry on the significance and use of the ancient sites in that area and the benefits to us today. I asked him if he could help me locate a suitable site for a Meditation Sanctuary on the property, but he had to return home and could not come. In July I got a letter from him saying that his daughters, who are psychic, told him he must visit this property as it was a very important site. He, his wife and one daughter flew over specially to see it. They said they believed it to be a pre-celtic ritual site and the energy centre for the whole North-West of Ireland. He suggested that I had been guided here by the goddess Danu to re-vitalise this site (an odd concept for a former military officer to understand!).
However, I had been assured by 2 archaeologists that I might expect to find about 20 ancient sites within an 8 km radius of the Mill (I'm thinking Tourism here!). After researching the Donegal Archaeological Survey maps and records for about 18 months, I went on to find 176 sites. A further visit to the property in '93 resulted in Marko having an unbelievable conversation with what he described as extra-terrestrials who were dressed in feather cloaks and head-dresses who said "they had been there for 5000 years and were very happy with the new use of the property and the positive energy of the visitors, and that they were co-operating from below with what was taking place above." (Maybe I should have stayed in the Army!)
Later that same year, Michael Poynder, painter, poet, gemologist and spiritual healer who wrote a very detailed and comprehensive book on the ancient sites and their purpose, called "Pi in the Sky", came to visit. His dowsed map of the property shows an amazing 13 energy-spirals indicating a site of great importance
Other visitors from different disciplines further substantiated the theory. (Maybe, just maybe, there is something in all of this?)
One
other odd thing was that when Marko showed me the locations of the ten 'power points of the ancient ritual site', I realised that 5 were on the property I owned, 4 were on land I hoped to buy one day and which I was later given at a very good price, but the other (the point of Venus) was on a small piece of ground which Tommy, the man who had sold me the whole property, said he would never sell. The legal map got lost when the contract was being formalised and a new one had to be drawn up. This time, the elusive 'point of Venus' was included and, when I pointed this out to Tommy he said there would be no charge, it was a gift!!

Many visitors to the hostel have very special and sometimes spiritual experiences during their stay. Some can say exactly what this is in terms I do not fully understand, but others will make comments like "Wonderful scenery .. Beautiful old buildings with a special atmosphere .. Great hospitality .. But .... but .... there is something else .....?!"
