Since Brendan's arrival here by sea in 1988, the renovation of the Corcreggan property has been his main pre-occupation. However, since sailing still remained a passion he has been taking hostel guests on short trips on the Donegal coast since the Hostel began in 1991. The sale of the Railway Carriage part of the Hostel in 2006 has allowed him to expand his hobby into a new business. Corcreggan Mill offers oportunities to sail with the Owner aboard one of his Sailing Yachts.

There are two options.

A). Sailing on the North West coast, visiting some of Donegal's beautiful unspoilt islands and bays aboard his original boat the 32' mahogany sloop, called the yacht "Spinner". This is usually available during July, August and September and mostly comprises one to three-day voyages.

B). Sailing on the South West coast of Ireland aboard the owner's newly acquired, 37' cutter-rigged yacht "Corcreggan". This new option is for week-long voyages, which will develop into more extended cruising ranges and durations.

Costs.   Day sailing, €100  . Three-day trips, €250 .  Week-long trips, €500.

In each case, food is provided, but guests are expected to share cooking duties. Safety and sailing equiptment are provided aboard, but guests are welcome to bring their own. Travel to and from the boat is at the guest's expence.

The 2009 season. This season will be devoted to week-long passages aboard SV "Corcreggan" only. Normally only one guest will be taken on these trips except in special circumstances. Internation Law of the Sea regulations require that up-to-date Passport, relevent Visas and cost of return flight to home country must  be in hand and lodged with skipper before embarkation.

The first week will be along the Cork coast, 25-31 July

01-07 Aug. Cork to Brest via Scilly Isles.

08-14 Aug. Brest to La Rochelle.

15-21 Aug. La Rochelle to Santander/Bilbao.

22-28 Aug. Bilbao to La Corona.

01-07 Sept. La Corona to Porto.

08-14 Sept. Porto to Cape San Vincent.

15- 21 Sept. Refit.

21-28 Sept. Cape San Vincent to Canaries.
